We offer NHS orthodontic treatment to children who meet specific criteria and require correction of their teeth for health reasons. NHS funding is not available for mild cosmetic and bite discrepancies.
Find out how we can help youIf you think your child could benefit from treatment, they will first need to see their dentist, who will determine if treatment may be required. If they think it could help, your child will be referred to us for a free NHS consultation. As there is only a limited amount of NHS funding each year, there is a waiting list for an initial consultation. The waiting time ranges from 12-30 months. Urgent referrals for specific needs are seen within 6 months.
Find out how we can help youDuring the initial consultation, we will assess your child’s teeth using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). This is used to ascertain if an individual qualifies for orthodontic treatment. It involves a set of measurements that grade an individual’s dental health and, in borderline cases, the appearance of their smile.
The following dental problems usually qualify for NHS treatment:
If your child doesn’t qualify for NHS-funded care, we can offer treatment on a private basis. This comes with a number of benefits including flexible appointment times, immediate access to treatment (no waiting lists!) and the opportunity to choose more discreet braces.
You can also contact us directly to arrange a private orthodontic consultation as there is no need for a dentist to refer your child to us.
