Invisible orthodontics improves your smile and self-confidence.

Invisible orthodontics is a process to straighten your teeth using a sequence of clear transparent aligners which move teeth gradually and discreetly into alignment. Our preferred aligner systems are Angel Aligners and Invisalign.

Unlike traditional orthodontic appliances such as fixed braces, aligner braces are almost invisible to the naked eye. They fit perfectly to the contours of your teeth and are easy to remove. This makes them comfortable to wear and easy to clean.

Invisible orthodontics requires a series of customised aligners. Each aligner gradually moves your teeth a step closer to being straight. The number of aligners required will depend upon the severity of misalignment of your teeth and the nature of your bite. Each aligner is worn for a set period (usually 7 to 10 days) before moving onto the next.

Invisible aligners are made from a clear, multilayered plastic material which is precisely shaped and contoured to perform the necessary precise tooth movements.

The process

The invisible orthodontic treatment process begins with a full orthodontic assessment with one of our specialist orthodontists. This will include a 3D scan of your teeth and, usually, orthodontic x-rays.

With this information, a personalised treatment plan is created that includes the number of aligners needed and the estimated treatment time.

Once the treatment plan has been prepared, we will fit your first aligners at the clinic and instruct you on how to wear them. If you have any questions, our team will be available to answer your questions at any time.

Angel Aligners and Invisalign both require tooth-coloured attachments to be placed on to certain teeth. These are made of tooth coloured bonding material which adhere to specific teeth and provide surfaces against which your aligners can exert the necessary pressure to move teeth. They are easily placed and removed.

It is important that you wear your aligners consistently and for the recommended amount of time by your orthodontist. For the best treatment results, this is typically for approximately 22 hours a day.

Benefits of invisible orthodontics

Invisible orthodontics offers several benefits compared to traditional fixed braces. Some of the most important benefits are:

Discretion:
Invisible aligners are practically imperceptible due to their transparency and their close adaption of your teeth. This means you can wear your aligners without anyone noticing.

Comfort:
Invisible aligners are more comfortable than traditional fixed metal or tooth-coloured fixed braces because they do not have brackets or wires that can irritate the gums or cause mouth sores.

Fewer visits to the dentist:
Invisible braces require fewer visits to the orthodontist as they do not need to be adjusted as frequently as traditional braces. They are far less prone to breakages which also reduces the number of visits required.

Greater flexibility:
Invisible aligners are removed when eating, brushing, and flossing which makes maintaining good oral hygiene much easier.

Invisible orthodontic care

When wearing invisible aligner braces, it is important to follow certain care procedures to ensure that treatment is effective and safe. Some of the care and precautions that should be taken are:

Clean the appliances regularly

It is important to clean your aligners daily with a soft brush and toothpaste to avoid the build-up of plaque and stains. It is also recommended to regularly use a special aligner cleaner to ensure that the aligners are completely clean.

Wear your aligners for the recommended amount of time

It is important to wear your aligners according to your orthodontists’ instructions. Most patients are advised to wear their aligners as close to 22 hours a day to ensure the treatment is effective.

Avoid eating with aligners on in place

You should remove your aligners when eating. You should also remove your aligners when drinking anything other than water.

Regularly check your aligners

It is important that you bring your aligners to your orthodontic appointments. This allows your orthodontist to check how well they are fitting.

Maintain good oral hygiene

It is important to follow a good oral hygiene routine throughout your orthodontic treatment with invisible aligners. Poor oral hygiene can lead to cavities and periodontal disease which will affect your orthodontic treatment outcomes.

By following these precautions

You can ensure that the treatment is effective and safe. However, remember that your orthodontist or orthodontic team member is always available to answer any questions you may have during your treatment.

Angel Aligners & Invisalign

There are several invisible orthodontic brace systems available. Our preferred choices are Angel Aligners and Invisalign. Both are the highest quality invisible orthodontic systems that use customised transparent aligners, developed with over 20 years of research and development, to straighten teeth. Both are suitable for children, teenagers and adults who want to improve their dental appearance without having to wear traditional metal braces.

Angel Aligners and Invisalign are sophisticated clear aligner brace systems which are designed and manufactured using 3D modelling techniques to create custom aligners that fit perfectly to your teeth.

The aligners are made of a clear, soft material that does not cause irritation to the gums or cheeks. They are easy to remove, allowing patients to eat and brush their teeth normally.

Angel Aligners and Invisalign are leading brands in the field of invisible orthodontics and both have a wide range of products and advanced technologies to treat a variety of orthodontic problems. Both offer the following advantages:

How to get started with Invisible orthodontics

Your orthodontic specialist will advise you on whether invisible aligners are the best option to straighten your teeth and correct any bite discrepancies.

Once a treatment plan has been formulated and agreed upon, it generally takes between 2-3 weeks for your aligners to be manufactured.

An appointment will then be made to fit your first aligners with an orthodontic therapist.

Aligner attachments are usually placed at a subsequent visit.

We will monitor your treatment progress using Dental Monitoring which further reduces the number of times you will need to visit the practice.
