Peace of mind every step of the way

Dental Monitoring is available to both Gold and Silver patients. Once you have been fitted with your Invisalign aligners or fixed braces, we will ask you to take scans at regular intervals via your smartphone and send these to us via the Dental Monitoring app.

We compare the images you send us with your treatment plan to track your progress and ensure your teeth are moving into their desired position. If your teeth are moving as they should then there’s no need to come into the practice for a check-up, but you still have peace of mind that your treatment is being monitored.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Dental Monitoring (DM) work?

DM enables us to track the movements of your teeth remotely via your smartphone and monitor you through all stages of your progress with fewer appointments to fit into your busy schedule. From the convenience of your home or anywhere in the world, you can now communicate with the practice securely from the Dental Monitoring app and DM scan box.

How do I set up DM and how do I download the DM app?

When you visit the practice to have your aligners fitted, we’ll also set you up with Dental Monitoring. Please make sure you download the Dental Monitoring app prior to your appointment. The app is available for free via the App Store or Google Play. When your monitoring starts your clinician will send you an activation email with everything you need to log in.

How do I take a DM scan with my smartphone?

There are many ways to take a DM scan, depending on your treatment. Don’t worry it’s an easy process and your clinician will explain how to scan and submit your scan to us and will oversee a couple of practice scans with you. You’ll also find a video tutorial once connected to your DM app.

Is scanning difficult?

Scanning works really well and is suitable for all ages. However, we do understand everybody is different and we are here to provide support and answer any questions. When you get started on DM we ensure that before you leave our practice you understand all aspects of DM and have lots of practice of scanning with us.

How often do I need to scan?

We will let you know how often you need to scan your teeth and how to send it to us during your appointment. The frequency of scans depends on your individual case.

When do I scan?

You will scan when you have come to the end of the current aligner you are wearing. You will receive a reminder via the DM app when your scan is due.

What happens after I scan?

Once you have scanned and submitted this to us, we will review your scan. You will then receive a notification instructing you to either ‘Go’ – meaning you can proceed onto your next aligner or ‘No-Go’ – meaning you’re not ready to change your aligner yet and need to remain on your current aligner for 4 more days then rescan for us.

What happens if I do not scan when I should?

We advise that you keep up to date with your regular scans. However, if you miss the odd day or two when you were supposed to scan it is not a problem. Please then ensure that you scan as soon as you can. Patient compliance is extremely important, as in order for us to track your progress and provide support appropriately we ask that you make the utmost effort to scan using the app as advised.

What happens if I go on holiday?

No matter where you are in the world, Dental Monitoring can always be taken with you. When we issue your personal scan box it is provided with a travel bag so you can easily take it anywhere you need to.

Will I still be seen for appointments?

Yes of course, we will still see you for regular appointments. Dental Monitoring will help us keep an eye on your treatment more often than just your regular appointments in practice, which can be weeks apart.

What if I struggle with my scans?

If you struggle with your scans, we are here to help you and are easily accessible through the DM app. If you do not have time to call us, you can easily drop us a message when you’re out and about which we can reply to you through. You can communicate virtually with our team without the need for you to attend the practice.
