Fixed braces are a highly effective way to straighten teeth and correct a wide range of orthodontic issues. For patients who are concerned about the appearance of traditional metal braces, our tooth-coloured ceramic braces offer a precise yet discreet alternative.
This subtle appliance blends in with your natural teeth, making it a popular choice for adults and older teens. This option is available exclusively for our private patients.
Ceramic braces work much the same as traditional fixed braces do, but with enhanced aesthetic and comfort. We use 3M™ Clarity™ Advanced ceramic brackets which are small, stain resistant and designed with rounded corners to reduce irritation.
When you are ready to start treatment, we will begin with a 3D scan of your teeth, which we will use to create your custom treatment plan. We will then fix the tooth-coloured brackets to your teeth and attach the archwire.
You will be instructed on how to best care for your braces, and you will need to come into our practice for regular adjustment appointments. Once your treatment is completed, you will be fitted with a retainer to help maintain your beautiful new smile.
There are several advantages to choosing ceramic braces for your orthodontic treatment, such as:
The tooth-coloured brackets blend in with your natural teeth, making them much less noticeable than metal braces.
Ceramic braces work just like traditional fixed braces, delivering reliable and precise results.
The brackets are smooth and rounded, helping to minimise irritation to your cheeks and gums.
Our ceramic braces are designed to resist staining, keeping your smile looking clean throughout treatment.
A great choice for those who want a more aesthetic option without compromising on performance.
Find answers below to some of the common questions we get asked from our patients considering brace treatment.
Ceramic braces are just as effective as traditional metal braces, with the added benefit of being more discreet. Ceramic brackets are designed to be small and comfortable, without compromising strength.
The ceramic brackets are resistant to staining, but the clear elastic that holds the archwire in place could be stained by dark coloured liquids, such as coffee. However, we can easily change the elastics during your adjustment appointments.
It is important to brush your teeth often during orthodontic treatment. We recommend doing so after every meal. You should also floss regularly and use interdental brushes to clean the difficult-to-reach areas and book a visit with your dentist for a cleaning every 6 months.
Hard foods, such as raw carrots and nuts, and sticky foods like chewing gum, should be avoided to prevent damage to your braces. Sugary foods should also be avoided as they can lead to plaque build-up around the brackets, increasing the risk of tooth decay.
Ceramic braces are designed to be discreet and blend in naturally with your teeth. While they’re not completely invisible, they’re much less noticeable than traditional metal braces, so most people won’t spot them unless they’re looking very closely.
